Working with Hat Trick Digital, we developed in-house a proprietary comic engine to create an innovative and experimental take on digital comics. We created this engine in Unity, which allowed us to design pages with the writers and artists that broke the printed page metaphor and delved into the space that comic theorist Scott McCloud has termed ‘the infinite canvas’.
Every scene is designed with subtle 3D movement by creating the artwork in 3 layers to bring the page to life in a way never seen before.
Written by comic writing duo Leah Moore and John Reppion, the comic features the illustration of newly formed comic studio Windflower with initial concept art delivered by renowned Manga illustrator Emma Viecelli. Added to the mix are cinematic transitions, atmospheric animations, narrative hotspots and evocative soundscapes from composer Mike Reaney.
Released weekly in 10 parts, The Thrill Electric can be experienced via the bespoke comic reader at www.thethrillelectric.com
The Thrill Electric is also available for free on iOS devices from the App Store .
